That’s why cancer care providers come together regularly for tumor board meetings. The meetings are organized by cancer or tumor type and give providers a chance to discuss unique and challenging cases together.
Tumor board meetings bring together experts from all aspects of cancer care, including medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, pathologists, researchers and more.

Nurse Navigators
Nurse navigators help guide you and your family through your cancer journey. These are registered nurses who can assist with:
- Coordinating appointments, care and transportation
- Guiding you through the health care system
- Helping to clarify your diagnosis and treatment
- Offering cancer support services and educational resources
- Referring you to additional services such as nutrition, social support or financial counseling
Most importantly, your nurse navigator is someone you can turn to for answers and support.

Cancer Research
At Sanford Health, the best medical minds work together for you. Using innovative science, we’re leading the way to breakthroughs that will change cancer care for generations to come.
Clinical trials evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a possible treatment or prevention technique. Through this research, we discover new treatments, cures and ways to help patients enjoy a higher quality of life. By participating in a clinical trial, you help shape the future of cancer care.

Precision Oncology
Precision oncology refers to treatments uniquely designed to treat a patient’s specific cancer. It bases treatments on a patient’s genetic mutations, type of cancer, tumor size, location, cancer stage and more. These tailored treatments provide better results faster and with fewer side effects.
