A Women's Internal Medicine Specialist
Dr. Jean Marie McGowan is an internal medicine physician with a special interest in women’s health, genetics and sex and gender differences in medicine.
Dr. McGowan is the physician lead for the Sanford Women’s Specialty Clinic, director of the pelvic floor clinic and co-director of the preconception clinic. She is certified by the North American Menopause Society in menopause management.
Dr. McGowan focuses on cardiovascular disease in women, post-cancer primary care needs and primary care for transgender individuals. She is also a part of the team in the hereditary cancer clinic.
She is an associate faculty member for the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She serves as clinical education director for the women's health rotation for medical students, residents and fellows and is one of the career advisors for the Fargo campus. Dr. McGowan is also a research mentor.
